Our Orland Park clinic is a child-friendly therapy gym of nearly 7,000 square feet, so a visit here looks and feels a lot like play. That is on purpose. A motivated child works harder and makes progress faster, and we want your child to love coming.

Our therapists work as a team. When a child needs more than one kind of help, we bring several specialties together to look at the whole picture, so nothing falls through the cracks. BDI Playhouse has provided children's therapy in our community for more than 25 years.

Therapy services at this clinic

Our Orland Park gym offers pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, feeding therapy and lactation support, plus every program on our Specialties page, from serial casting and Schroth therapy for scoliosis to counseling. Your child does not need a diagnosis to start physical therapy. Many children come for a short time to work on a small concern a parent has noticed.

Aqua therapy sessions are held at Life Time Fitness, 16333 S La Grange Rd, also in Orland Park. Our aqua therapists are licensed physical and occupational therapists with experience in aquatic pediatric therapy.

Speech, occupational and physical therapy sessions can also take place by telehealth for families anywhere in Illinois. Feeding therapy is always in person.

Which insurance plans does BDI Playhouse accept?

BDI Playhouse is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans and a select number of BCBS HMO plans, and the same plans apply at both clinics. The HMO plans are HMO of Illinois, Blue Advantage HMO and Blue Precision HMO, through the Duly Health and Care HMO organization. We are not in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare or Cigna, and we are not contracted with Medicaid or state-funded plans. Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy helps children move with more strength, balance and confidence, from infant head shape and milestones like sitting, crawling and walking to posture, coordination and sports. It is for more than injury rehab, and a diagnosis is not required to get started.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps children succeed at their everyday “occupations”: playing, learning, self-care and getting along with others. Our OTs find what is getting in the way, then build skills such as fine motor control, emotional regulation, sensory processing and strength.

Speech-Language Therapy

Our speech-language pathologists assess and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in children. Every SLP is ASHA certified and licensed in Illinois, with specialty training that includes PROMPT, orofacial myofunctional therapy and Orton-Gillingham.

Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy for picky eaters and problem feeders, from infants who struggle with nursing or bottle feeding to children who refuse textures, gag at meals or eat only a few foods. Our feeding-trained occupational and speech-language therapists see families in person at both clinics.

Lactation Consultation

One-on-one breastfeeding and bottle-feeding help from our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Certified Breastfeeding Specialists. Support is non-judgmental and evidence-based, and visits are virtual or in person.

Aqua Therapy

Aqua therapy uses the water’s reduced gravity and gentle resistance to help children practice movements they can’t yet do on land. It is a fun way to build strength, balance, coordination and body awareness.

Counseling

Counseling for children, adolescents, adults, parents and families. We help kids and teens explore their thoughts, emotions and behaviors and build healthy ways to cope with life’s challenges, with parents involved along the way.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Orofacial myofunctional therapy looks at how the muscles of the face and mouth work during rest, breathing, chewing, swallowing and speaking. Our trained therapists identify abnormal movement patterns and work to restore healthy function for breathing, eating and facial development.

Incontinence

Pelvic floor physical therapy for children who struggle with bedwetting, daytime accidents or constipation. Sessions focus on education and exercises. Exams are external only, so your child stays fully clothed and comfortable.

Bike Riding

One-on-one, 30-minute bike riding sessions with a licensed physical or occupational therapist who finds the missing pieces and coaches your child and family. Many children who already have some pedaling experience ride on their own in just three sessions.

Buteyko Breathing Method

A breathing re-education technique that teaches soft, slow nasal breathing and reduces over-breathing. Sessions are led by our accredited Buteyko Method instructor and may help with asthma, seasonal allergies, snoring and poor sleep.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses soft touch to release restrictions in the connective tissue from the skull to the tailbone. Our CST-trained therapists blend it into sessions alongside functional skills to improve movement and body awareness.

Educational Advocate

Guidance for families navigating special education. Our educational consultant and advocate helps you understand services, prepare for IEP and 504 Plan meetings, and make sure your child’s needs are clearly communicated.

Food Reactions

A parent’s guide to the differences between food allergies, food sensitivities and food intolerances: what is happening in the body, how quickly symptoms appear and how each one is identified. It is background our feeding therapists use every day.

Foot Pronation

Pronation is when the middle of the foot collapses inward, often called flat feet or low arches. Our physical therapists can check your child’s alignment and recommend or fit an orthotic during a screening, and refer families to an orthotist for custom bracing.

Infant Feeding Services

An overview of our infant feeding services: feeding therapy, lactation consultations and lactation education classes. Our team supports breastfeeding, bottle feeding and the early stages of solid foods.

Infant Feeding Therapy

Help for babies who struggle to feed: slow weight gain, refusing to eat or drink, trouble with the latch or bottle, frequent spit-up, or coughing and gagging at meals. Our infant feeding team includes an IBCLC, Certified Breastfeeding Specialists and speech-language pathologists.

Lactation Services

Breastfeeding support from speech-language pathologists who are also International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. We assess latch, positioning and your baby’s oral motor skills, then provide corrective interventions and counseling for mom and family.

Myo Munchee

The Myo Munchee is a small, simple oral device your child chews. Used alongside oral motor and orofacial myofunctional therapy, it supports chewing skills and mouth posture and helps with tongue or pacifier sucking, mouth breathing and drooling.

PROMPT

PROMPT is a hands-on approach to speech sound disorders. A PROMPT-trained speech-language pathologist uses touch cues to teach a child how to move the jaw, lips and tongue, practicing words that matter in your child’s everyday life.

Parent Support Groups

Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening is a sound-based program that uses modified music to change how the body takes in and responds to sensory information. Paired with occupational therapy, it can support listening, attention, motor planning and communication.

Thumb Sucking

Help ending thumb sucking and other oral habits such as finger, pacifier or tongue sucking and nail chewing. Our IAOM-trained myofunctional therapist evaluates the habit and guides your family through a positive, encouragement-based plan to stop it.

Toe Walking

Toe walking can be normal for a new walker, but it should fade as walking matures. If your child still walks on tiptoes after age 2, our occupational and physical therapists can screen for the cause. Early treatment can help avoid casting or surgery later.

Tummy Time
