What is your favorite quote?
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.” – J.K. Rowling
What is the greatest compliment you have ever received?
A client’s family let me know they felt like I was the first therapist to truly listen to them and their frustrations. It humbled me and reminded me that I am here to listen as well as provide therapy. As a speech therapist I feel like I have to talk all the time, but sometimes just listening to my clients and their families can be just as therapeutic.
What is the biggest mistake a therapist can make?
The biggest mistake a therapist can make is to try to do this job alone. My fellow co-workers are invaluable to me and daily teach and push me to be a better therapist. I’ve learned from experience that it is incredibly hard to not have other therapists to see and talk to every-day who I can bounce ideas off of, get advice from, and learn from. I love the community here at BDI!
