Craniosacral Therapy

What is CST?

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a body system called the craniosacral system. These techniques use a soft touch to release restrictions in the connective tissue from the skull to the tailbone, resulting in better health and movement!

How Does it Work?

A CST trained provider will assess your child’s symptoms and tension in their craniosacral system. Based on these findings, they will use the cranial bones as levers to release any restrictions in the tissues. During treatment sessions, therapists may incorporate craniosacral techniques into the session along with functional skills. This will assist with improving optimal function and body awareness. Each session is led by the body’s presentation that day. Some sessions may focus more on one area of tension while others incorporate more areas.

Why Physical Therapy for CST?

BDI Playhouse’s CST-trained physical therapists are uniquely equipped to integrate active movement immediately following CST. With specialized training in movement analysis, they can help the body incorporate new motor patterns right away. This focus on functional movement allows for more effective and lasting results. Our therapists also work closely with families to develop personalized home programs, to enhance gross motor skills and support ongoing progress toward functional goals.
